Capturing Bugs

Keyboard Shortcuts

Crosscheck provides keyboard shortcuts for quickly triggering captures and opening the extension popup without reaching for the mouse. These shortcuts work globally across all browser tabs where the extension is active.

Extension Shortcuts

The following shortcuts let you trigger captures directly from the keyboard. These are Chrome extension shortcuts and can be customized through the browser settings.

When the annotation editor is open after capturing a screenshot, these shortcuts are available.

Recording Controls

During an active screen recording, you can use these shortcuts to control the session.

Use the same Alt + Shift + R (or Option + Shift + R on Mac) shortcut to stop an active recording. The floating recording toolbar also provides pause, resume, and stop controls.

Customizing Shortcuts

Chrome allows you to remap extension keyboard shortcuts to any combination you prefer. If the default shortcuts conflict with other extensions or applications, you can change them.

How to Customize

  1. Open Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions/shortcuts
  2. Find Crosscheck in the list of extensions.
  3. Click the pencil icon next to the shortcut you want to change.
  4. Press your desired key combination. Chrome will validate that it does not conflict with built-in browser shortcuts.
  5. The new shortcut takes effect immediately. No restart required.
Shortcut scope
Extension shortcuts work in the Global scope by default, meaning they are active even when Chrome is not focused. You can change this to In Chrome only if you prefer the shortcuts to work only when the browser is in the foreground.
Conflicts with other extensions
If a keyboard shortcut does not trigger Crosscheck, another extension may be using the same key combination. Visit chrome://extensions/shortcuts to check for conflicts and reassign as needed.
